The clutch switch is usually mounted on the handlebar lever assembly and is a safety feature that won't let you start your bike if it is in gear. If this fails, you will have to make sure the bike is in nuetral before starting and the problem whth this is, if you stall the engine in traffic or when you least want it to, you'll have to go back to neutral to start. The answer is to always replace this inexpensive safety switch when it fails, it could save you a lot of trouble in the future.
